Women on Boards is a national program to improve the gender balance on Australian company boards. It has 7,000 subscribers to its website from all sectors and industries, including rural, mining and the public service. The network has many qualified, female executives from legal, financial, IT, sales and marketing, human resources, business development and project management backgrounds who are looking for a board career. Women on Boards partners with the corporate, government, not-for-profit and sports sectors to hold events, create opportunities for women, mentor women into directorships and ensure a high level of dynamic interaction across its large and influential network. Illawarra Events In conjunction with International Women’s Day 2010, Women on Boards will be holding several events in the Illawarra on March 11 and 12. Wednesday March 11 Networking Event: Young people contributing to boards A networking event for young people (under 30) hosted by Women on Boards (WOB) and the University of Wollongong. Featuring a guest speaker addressing "The Career Myths" and a panel discussion on why it is important to include board work in your career and how to get your first board role.
